Beach Background

Alright here it goes,

So i started this piece yesterday and the background turned out great. But the only problem is that the girl and dog I originally planned in this sketch were mocked by my family. -_- I had argued with them and I was planning on not alter the girl or the dog, but when I was doing the lineart and base for the rebellious girl and her dog; I found that I couldn't quite complete them because I keep thinking of how those comments on them. I got unsecure and wondered if the two characters didn't look quite right. I fiddled with them but I eventually gave up on trying to alter them and now I've edited them out completely.

Has anyone else had a situation similar to this? I just got so paranoid by the comments on the girl (How her face wasn't right and the posture was too closed) that I couldn't put them in the piece anymore, because I felt that if the characters were that bad or poorly drawn then they were a waste of time. So this is the result. A background piece, which isn't what I wanted to do, but I couldn't get past my, I don't know how to put it, fears? Shame? Maybe Unsecurity with those two characters. I gave up on them completely, which has never happened before. :/

Anyway I want to hear from you guys because it's been awhile since I've done anything online. Ive done a few commission pieces in the real world but outside of that I haven't done any graphic design pieces.
